The story follows a brain surgeon named, Minakata Jin, who has spent the last two years in anguish, as his fiancee lies in a vegetative state after an operation he performed. One day, he faints at the hospital and awakens to find himself transported back in time to the Edo period. He is soon attacked by a samurai, but he escapes with the help of a man named Kyotaro. Kyotaro suffers a serious injury to the head while trying to protect him, but Jin manages to save his life despite a lack of proper medical equipment. Because of that, Kyotaro's sister Saki begins taking an interest in Jin and becomes his assistant. Meanwhile, Jin is determined to find a way back to the present.
11 episodes; medical drama
Another medical drama. It's pretty cool how he uses everyday tools in order to perform his brain surgeries. Such as a hammer and a nail in order to make a hole in the head. It's interesting in a scientific way to see him cure people of cholera and of hepatitis. He makes penicillin and now we know what an IV is made out of. A very interesting drama, and quite fun to watch because you never know what injury is going to happen next. Although it starts to drag a bit in the middle and the ending is just horrible.
The conclusion didn't wrap up the drama at all, instead of solving the question of who was the myterious bandaged man, it just says that Jin wonders if it was him, or Ryoma... which doesn't quite help at all. Also, the fetus that we creepily are reminded of constantly throughout the whole drama, other then us being reminded of it, it serves no purpose. I expected it to play a big part, but no. Also, the method of how he time traveled is not clear, the love triangle in the end dissolves because the other woman went away. However, because Jin never expressed any feelings towards her, it still feels like the romantic aspect was not solved at all either. In other words, this drama needed to fix up its sloppy ending.
JIN was a great drama to watch. Perhaps for only the first couple episodes though. I'll give it a 3/5, it would be a 4 but that ending was a disappointment. The suspense of figuring out the myster was all that kept me watching it, and that mystery was never solved, a huge disappointment.
