20 episodes; drama
To be completely honest, I only started watching this because it was on Netflix and I needed something to play as background noise. Well, what can I saw about this drama? I'm about halfway through and I completely hate the one of the main characters: Oh Young Ji. She started off the show as a very annoying brat and now she's graduated to manipulative bitch. Mainly because she knows who Lee Cho In is the whole time and tries to prevent him from regaining his memory. She's basically forcing him to stay with her because what? he was nice to her when she gave him a tour of China? And guilt tripping. She's basically a manipulative bitch who knows Lee Cho In's true identity but wants to keep him with her for no good reason. I can't even tell if she likes him a lot or if its just a crush but either way, stupid reasons for keeping him. I really hope that when Lee Cho In remembers everything, she gets kicked out.
Talking about female leads, I don't particularly have any strong feelings for Kim Seo Yeon. She just kind of seems wimpy. Originally with Lee Seon Woo, to be with Lee Cho In, then go back to Seon Woo. I suppose she does have valid reasons to be with both so I don't hate her for flip flopping. If she was a stronger character, I might like her more. Maybe I just like stories with strong female leads.
Another reason I don't like the drama is the whole reason they wanted to have Lee Cho In killed in the first place. I mean sure, maybe he would get in the way of having the hospital build a neurosurgery center but is it really worth killing him over? The whole premise of why he was "killed" was stupid. Who cares if the hospital has a neurosurgery center or an emergency center.
Plus, the pacing of the show is quite slow. The first 10 episodes were about him going off to China to do volunteer mission work. Where he subsequently gets kidnapped, shot and left for dead. Lee Cho In survives of course, but has amnesia and forgets everything and becomes Oh Kang Ho. As Oh Kang Ho, he winds up running around China in the drug trade. By episode 9ish, he's made his way to Korea as Oh Kang Ho. Halfway through the whole show and only now he's in Korea. This gives up 10 more episodes to regain his memory, fight Choi Chi Soo (some crazy bastard he met in China while in the drug trade), drama with Oh Young Ji (for knowing his true identity), drama with Kim Seo Yeon (former fiance who went back to be with his brother, Lee Seon Woo), and possibly take over the hospital.
Debating now if I should just finish the show or if I should start a new one. It may be too late to turn back though. Maybe I'll just keep on going and hate on the characters some more.
